You've gone by

Vacant House
You've gone by
with the flicker of the candle
the time I opened my eye
dreamlike; life seemed a mirage
on which I build dreams
often of houses,
in which you and me
be together
Among the weary shelves
I see that unused bottle
of perfume
that you left by
when you angrily walked out
I also spot
one or two love letters
that you had tucked safely
in drawers which had
long lost
their color
When I stand by the
window
lost in my thoughts
of togetherness, love and
joy
A doorbell beckons me
and I drag my feet
numbness notwithstanding
to another evening of
the neighbours usual chatter...!
