World and Me

by Geetika Sodhi
(Ghaziabad, India)

Wherever I have stayed,
I have stayed with my all,
Whatever I have done,
My integrity didn’t fall,

I am proud of my honesty,
My loyalty is my crown,
Some treat me like a queen,
Others just a clown,

I can’t treat people like things,
I can’t use,
I don’t exploit my blessings,
I don’t abuse,

Life is too short,
I collect smiles and compassion,
I thrive on love,
I work with passion,

Grey shades are beautiful,
So are black and white,
I stay away from the ugly world,
Busy Proving wrong and right,

People without conscience,
Policing on morals,
Those who light celebrations,
Sitting on burials,

World is just a game,
Masters and pawns,
I can’t play so i breathe,
Silently watching dusks and dawns,

Murders are celebrated,
Rapes justified,
They call it society,
To a set up they are tied,

I don’t please or appease,
Just a black sheep,
I stand tall in a world so cruel,
I walk straight even on slopes so steep,

All this success wrapped,
With money and fame,
A fake idea,
So shallow and lame,

I don’t explain why,
I don’t run any race,
I would be more than happy,
To die unknown without a trace,

What’s in the name,
If you died alone,
No one to feel the pain,
Of seeing you gone,

How many names can you count on finger tips,
How many do you know,
That fear losing you unconditionally,
Without benefit or a fake show,

End of the world,
Had started the day,
When relationships were called investments,
And emotions were play,

Now Sympathy circulates,
Scrutinising Empathy of the kind,
Love has become calculated,
Relationships mere polities of the mind,

Noisy crowd,
Purchasing and Selling,
Bullying and killing,
Demons dwelling,

Lust and Hunger,
Rich Snatching in Greed,
A satanised world,
where angels bleed,

And here I stand,
Alone at the shore,
Watching helplessly a sea of blood,
Roaring and asking on for more,

Till I breathe,
I walk free,
A Parallel story,
Of World and Me!
