Who Walks With Me
by Sahar Raza

Silent nights, the world so calm
And heart in despair.
Somebody peeps from above
On our lives with care?
We are fish in the sea.
We are dust on earth.
We are clouds in the sky.
Just littered here and there.
Do I live randomly
Or I have a someone fatherly
Is there no one to soothe my soul
In the heaven abode.
Say, why do you despair
When I care?
Why are the fish so pretty?
Why are the birds so witty?
Why worms in the mud?
And blooming flower buds.
So much joy in your child’s smile
And you care of envy in your rival's heart all the while !
A heady warmth in your lover's embrace
And you look for hate
In his eyes and face…
Frozen heart, caged soul
To live for ego
To live for wealth
To live for anything but
Some peace in the head.
A child, looks up to her mother
She has eyes more for order
A son to his father
Who has heart more for power
Then in love to find an anchor
Alas adrift again in shifting sands
Friends, children the cycle repeats
Alone one day from dusk to dawn
But one morning on a beach
While the ocean beholds
And the sun throws away its angry streaks
A breath of wind ruffles the air
And birds chirp in the ear
A shadow comes near
And walks with me.
Fortitude to myself
Solitudes companion
Never alone
For never lonely….
