This is my Mind
by Parimala Rao
(Boston, USA)
This is my mind!
Like a snake with its hood held high
Dancing the tail down to the dark
Fathoming the under world,
With green wrapping green
With red melting into red
Is changing its colour
Like a chameleon, climbs up the branches
Curls up the tail and hangs.
Sometimes,
Like the evening breeze
Is wandering and swaying here and there.
Sometimes,
Like the ship in a sea storm
Is fighting for life and breath
Sometimes,
Is embracing everything
Like the rays of the morning sun
Like the free stray cattle
Is dissatisfied in grazing old pasture
Like a bud blooming
each petal is building a fort
my mind in its multi folds
is searching for secrets dissolved
all new and fresh in form
nothing heard before,
But! Like you who has caged
The flowers to the branches
And the rivers to their banks and bunds
And the morning hanged to the peg of the nights
Why have you not caged my mind?
once you fasten and hold it fast
My heart in sun’s golden chariot
will roll and reach the path of truth
And immerse in floods of ecstasy!
