Never Leave Me Alone
by Moumita Bhaumik
(Kolkata, West Bengal, India)
The sun is in hide
Behind the nimbus.
The gust of heavy rain drops
On my tiny body.
So heavy, my feathers ruffle
So heavy, my body aches.
My nest is flooded
Nowhere to go.
The dampened air
So pungent and unfair.
I cried loud
“Daddy, I fear”
No one heard.
I cried again,
“Daddy, I am here”
My voice came back.
Suddenly the sun rose
Behind the clouds.
At the horizon a pretty rainbow glows
I saw my feathers grown so large
From a tiny birdie to a beautiful bird.
Then I realize, the truth on earth
My daddy left me alone, as I grew large.
