Galaxies

There was a girl with galaxies in her eyes. Hidden away from the pain and hate outside, locked up in her own little world. That’s where she was safest; the place where she felt most sure of herself. Forever scared of being dragged out of her very own paradise, she lived in quiet peace.
When you looked into her eyes for the first time, you’d see nothing. They’d look like empty black pits, and you’d wonder why they said she’s special. But if you dared to look closer; and she dared to let you see, you’d find a million stars shining in the same eyes you once thought to be empty. She wasn’t just one of a kind. The best thing about her was her beautiful mind. When you looked into her eyes for the first time, you’d see nothing. They’d look like empty black pits, and you’d wonder why they said she’s special. But if you dared to look closer; and she dared to let you see, you’d find a million stars dancing in the same eyes you once thought to be empty. She carried the weight of the universe and never once had she let a tear out, fearing she wouldn’t be able to stop, and end up destroying all that exists.
Although surrounded by everything she could ever wish to have, she still felt alone; in her mind. She longed to feel the love that dare not speak its name. She knew it was forbidden, but never did it affect her desire to fall in love.
