The temple houses a Kalyana mantapa in front of Uma Maheswara temple. Marriages are usually conducted here. When we visited a marriage ceremony was going on there.

In the other area, we saw a pool called Pushkarni and 4 Banyan trees with lots of birds and monkeys in the garden area.

The pool has steps carved into the rock. During special occasions like Deepavali, a large number of lamps are lit on the side of the tank.

Architecture of the Temple

The temple was originally built in Dravidian style architecture. The same style was retained by the subsequent dynasties who extended the construction further, over the years.

If you wish to see the beauty of the whole temple and its impressive architecture, grand stupas and sculptures leisurely at your own pace, it will take somewhere between 2 to 2 1/2 hours. The temple complex is that huge.

These multiple stone carvings are a feast to the eyes.

Though it is an ancient temple regular pujas and homams are performed here.

The temple has been preserved as a National monument of importance by Archeological Survey of India.

This temple is located 60 kms away from Bangalore, on Bangalore-Hyderabad Road.
