The Rain

The smell of rain upon the earth
Stops me on these stairs
Inviting me to stand and stare
On the reflections I so care!
I sit down slowly, on these stairs
To watch it fall down there
It takes me home,
On the wings of time
To long lost days so fair!
As rain pound the pathway
Memories pound my heart
I can bear hunger and pain
But the thoughts break my heart!
I love rain though I fear it’s rage
It touches my soul’s melody
It lends me hope tells me to strive
I’m not a forgotten body!
It is just a drop, born for one moment
That ceaselessly strives each breath
So what if weak, so what if tiny
Someday all walls will break!
I am a being of noble class
How can I be meek?
Again I rise, again I fall
To see my deadlocks break!
