Mother
by Khushboo khilwani
(Mithapur, Gujarat, India)
She shows me stars and moon in the sky
On her lap, I lay feeling tender and calm
Patting my back, singing me lullabies
She kisses me on my forehead
Every morning she wakes me in her jolly spirit
She is the cook of my pastries and cakes
Watches me eat with bliss on her face
She is the designer of my pretty dresses
Ties my hair with colorful ribbons
I am the only princess in her eyes.
Gripping her fingers, I learned to walk
With her I cross, any daring lane
She scolds me when I make a mistake
She holds me when I fumble on my way
She wipes my tears when I cry,
Makes me smile the moment I fear
She hugs me tight and tells me dear,
I am always there to make you cheer
She puts in her daily labor
And makes my life so easy and simple
Yet she demands no revenue no reward
All she wants is my smiling face.
I am not often there to say
My darling mother I love you a lot
Every day you pray to GOD
For all the happiness in my life
But in my heart I always say
You are the only, only GOD for me.
